PLATFORM

"Serving as a volunteer to improve your community is a value that my family engrained upon me - and something my husband and I hope to engrain in our own children.  We love living in Georgetown and I want to help make it its best.  I want to work alongside our neighbors to provide a fresh look - and fresh solutions - for the unique and often longstanding challenges presented in lower Georgetown.   I'm a strong leader, a great listener and a solutions-based consensus builder - and I will always look out for our shared interests as residents of this unique SMD."
LIST OF ISSUES
Traffic Congestion

In my two years on the ANC, I have worked on a number of transportation issues.  I have worked closely with DDOT to reimagine K and Water Street - and when the new configuration caused unforeseen traffic consequences, worked even harder to rectify them.  We now see less congestion on the north/south streets and significantly more orderly traffic flow in the corridor.  I've also proposed resolutions to address more clear lane markings at T intersections and shepherded a Georgetown-wide Circulation Study which will focus on many of our 2E05 blocks as well as Georgetown overall.  Improving congestion and confusion on our streets for all users remains a top priority.

Georgetown's Architectural Integrity

I will work hard to maintain the architectural fabric that has made Georgetown such a unique place, while appreciating the desire to promote Georgetown as a business friendly community open to the emerging changes in the neighborhood.  I also commit to making the process of receiving necessary support and/or approvals from the ANC, and sharing feedback on such proposals with the ANC, simpler and more clear, in an attempt to ensure that the historic qualities of our special community remain top of mind and that the ANC efficiently facilitates appropriate development in the community.

Public Safety

As a mother to small children, I place a particularly strong value on ensuring we have a safe community.  I have worked and will continue to work closely with our friends at both MPD and the US Park Police to keep Georgetown safe for residents and hospitable to businesses.  A top priority is ensuring that we have adequate patrols both at night and during the daytime hours.  Finally, I am proud that we have opened up lines of communication so that residents are in the loop on safety related matters as they arise.

Neighborhood Cleanliness

Trash and recycling pickup has improved for residents over the past two years.  I continue to work closely with Department of Public Works and Department of Health to ensure that our alleys and other public spaces are kept clean.  Continuing this work will be paramount as we continue to fight the widespread rodent issues across the District - and more specifically, in Georgetown.

Leadership on Upcoming Issues

I have worked closely with residents and developers in support of the West Heating Plant and look forward to receiving feedback from the Mayor's Agent on the process going forward in the near future.  Other upcoming issues where I continue to work include issues related to DC Water and Green Infrastructure, potential proliferation of small cells for 5G service, and how to ensure the configuration of our roadways meet the needs of residents and guests in 2018.  My goal, as always, is to ensure that we, as neighbors are given an appropriate voice in the decision making process.
