ENDORSEMENTS
Two years ago Lisa Palmer knocked off longtime commissioner Bill Starrels. GM actually endorsed Bill back then, but now enthusiastically endorses Lisa. She has performed extremely well and was a stalwart advocate for the redesign of K/Water St. She has been a fantastic addition to the commission, and she has earned your vote for her reelection.
“One of our tasks on this ANC is to position Georgetown for the future, to continue to attract people of all age brackets and lifestyles in a vital, interesting and forward-thinking community,” Palmer wrote. “Biking, as a mode of transportation and leisure, is 100-percent part of that future.”
Positions differed on D.C.’s proposal for one-side-of-the-street designated resident parking. The two SMD 05 (mostly below M Street) candidates, incumbent Bill Starrels and challenger Lisa Palmer, disagreed: he favors the proposal; she does not. At its October meeting, the ANC voted 5-3 to write a letter to the District Council opposing the idea. On the homeless issue, Palmer spoke at length about her prior experience....
